The
Livermore Trails
community has been
designed as a Transit
Oriented
Development (TOD),
with relatively
compact neighborhoods
where many of life's
necessities are within
walking distance as is
good public transit.
By design, these types
of developments
encourage trips made
on foot, bicycle, and
transit, rather than
by automobile.
The community will
also employ
transportation demand
management strategies
(TDM's), which are
shown to further
reduce traffic in a
community. Some
of the TDM's for
Livermore Trails
include: improved
public transit and
shuttle service; free
transit passes for
residents; bicycle and
pedestrian
improvements; and safe
routes to schools
programs. |
